Oyekanmi Akinbami.

Oyekanmi Akinbami is a Nigerian visual artist whose practice explores identity, transformation, and resilience through the visual language of Magical Realism. Inspired by childhood experiences around his family’s fish business, he combines fish-skin patterns with portraiture to create symbolic works that examine memory, culture, and humanity’s relationship with nature. He works primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, producing richly textured paintings that blend realism with imagination. Akinbami holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Painting from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, and has exhibited in several group exhibitions, including LIMCAF (2023) and The Evolution (2023).
